PREMIER TEAM OF THE WEEK

Congratulations to Arjun Nair who was again named in the Premier Team of the Week for his 80 against Essendon. Full article available on CODE Sports.

Also our Supreme Leader of the 4th XI Robert Capstick was hilariously acknowledged by Bob Quiney in Cricket Vics Round Recap video on social media as "Chapstick"! Check it out on Vic Premier Crickets socials.

U18s Season Draws to a Close

Our U18 male tournament drew to a close last Sunday against Prahran. Unfortunately the team lost by 9 wickets but some strong performances by Ed Winneke and Sam O'Brien with the bat were a standout.

The team finished the season in 12th position with 3 wins from 9 matches.

A big thankyou to coaches Joel Reid and Matt Grose, all the players and parents for their commitment over the summer! We look forward to seeing many of the boys playing in our senior teams in the future!

Welcome to Jack's Q&A Corner brought to you by our guests favourite spot for a night out, The Hawthorn Hotel. And yes that's right, this week I sat down with the former king of the Hawker, a man who can run all day and someone who has two first names, Josh Nelson.

1. Are you nicknamed Horse because you run like a horse or is it something else?

Josh: As much as I would like to say it is due to traditional anatomy based meaning its unfortunately a very simple story. Falling off a horse on year 6 camp was enough to get the nickname started and it has stuck ever since! Although, after coming to Camberwell the name was quickly exchanged for Pony much to my dismay.

The classic year 6 horse riding camp, I did one of those too through Mansfield! Didn't fall off though! I think Pony suits you nicely as an elegant, high class gentleman, there's an added touch of brilliance to pony that horse doesn't have.

2. How much do you love your dad being co-president and making funny jokes in front of everyone?

Josh: Well Stiffy the sabbatical I took last year conveniently aligned with his appointment so take that however you would like. The second hand embarrassment definitely gets me. However, after many family dinner discussions I think we have fortunately got through to Dad that humour is not his strong suit. I must admit though Gravo and Dad have done a great job over the last couple of years and results are showing!

Agreed, let's let the comedians do the comedy and the boring businessmen revive the clubs economy! And speaking of strong suits, I can imagine your dad would have a few in his closet! But on a side note, how nice that the Nelsons have family dinner! Sounds like a wonderful home!

3. Your LinkedIn suggests you are currently a claims support worker for an insurance company, is this just an extra thing you do on the side like Michael Scott in season 4 of The Office or do you just love serving the people?

Josh: The old insurance gig definitely tests my patience. After two years of drivers telling me it wasn’t their fault for rear ending someone and questioning my intelligence and humanity I’m glad I’m calling it quits. Unfortunately, my next job will ensure you can add my name to the corporate cowboy list which is growing by the day at the magpies.

Hey at least you weren't selling diet pills like Michael Scott! But the concrete jungle isn't for the ill hearted, I hope you're prepared for the personality changes and many stereotypes you are about to fulfill on your journey! I look forward to seeing your many LinkedIn posts and achievements that we all definitely will care about. And you're right, some diversity wouldn't go astray, it's almost like these private schools just steer people towards high earning careers..........just ask Lax! Money = Happiness

4. Being Toms brother, whats something about him you can tell us we might not know? Josh: As we know Tom is a man of simple tastes and pleasures. However, something you might not know is his passion for real estate and architecture. Whether that’s watching grand designs with mum or scouring realestate.com he seems very into it.

So what you're saying is, every Sunday night at 7 o'Block, Tom hops on the couch in his jim jams to watch Scott Cam and co build homes! Who would've thought he was a big softy at heart! Oh Tom, such a gentleman and maybe one day an extravagent home designer too!

5. If I come over for dinner what are you cooking for me?

Josh: Mexican fiesta for you Stiffy. Taco night is simple but always hits. Thinking maybe a hard/soft combo tacos with all the fillings and a special house made guac.

The hard/soft combo is really hitting the nostalgia late 00s, early 10s Ol del Paso ads, children being thrown in the air in celebration vibe! I do love a mexican feast and so easy, great shout horse! If you could make a huge batch of that guac then we could do taco night on a Thursday! Pony's Kitchen, where you'll be running through the door......hopefully not the toilet door.....

Thankyou to Pony for playing! Who will be next on Q&A Corner, find out in next rounds newsletter!
