Profile

An eighth 1st XI batting award, an eighth Keith Stackpole Medal and dual selection in the Victorian Premier Cricket Team of the Year and Camberwell Magpies ‘Team of the Decade (2007-2016)’ were the items added to Simon Hill’s ever-growing honour roll in 2015/16; affirming his status as the best batsman the club has produced since the merger.

Hailing from Wangaratta, Simon has become a top quality Premier cricketer over a long time. He represented Victoria and Australia at underage level, and has played for the Victorian 2nd XI on a number of occasions.

Underlining Simon’s consistency is the fact that he has scored 500+ runs at First XI level for 12 consecutive seasons, with his best year coming in 2013/14 when he broke Matthew Hayward’s club aggregate record (938) with 972 runs of his own at 57.18. He also scored a career high 208 not out against Northcote that year, and has subsequently moved to 9202 career runs in First XI Victorian Premier Cricket by the beginning of the 2016/17 season.
