Camberwell Magpies Cricket Club (“CMCC”) has a thriving Juniors section, with teams from U/10 through to U/18 in the 2019/20 season. The Club uniquely offers a pathway starting with the Junior Blasters program, through Master Blasters, Juniors and into the Seniors where we proudly compete as a Premier League Club. Many of the club’s players have graduated from our own Juniors program. This progression was strengthened in 2018/19 with the introduction of a Junior Development program, which is a pathway program into the Premier League taking in elite junior cricketers from our region, predominately between the ages of 13-16. This exemplifies the Club’s efforts to provide a pathway from the backyard to the Baggy Green.
The CMCC Juniors is a very successful Club, with 10 teams playing in any given season. This enables us to maximise the use of our facilities whilst ensuring that there is room for individual player growth throughout each season. We concentrate on the development of player skills, matched with a fair play principle and ensuring a lot of fun along the way for players and families. All Juniors teams have a Cricket Australia accredited coach who is also on our Seniors player roster.
As a pathway into the Juniors program, the Club also offers the Junior Blasters and Master Blasters program (programs supported by Cricket Australia). These programs are run by senior players from the Club and are supported by a dedicated group of parent volunteers. Last year over 100 boys and girls participated.
2019/20 Juniors Registrations
In 2019-20 the Magpies offered a priority registration period to returning Junior Players from the 2018-19 season. Priority registration was also offered to 2018-19 Master Blaster Participants eligible to move into Juniors in 2019-20. The priority registration period opened on 22nd July and closed on 29th July. At the end of the priority registration period, all places in the U10, U12 and U14 teams were allocated. The Juniors Committee consequently decided not to open General Registrations to the public in these age groups. A small number of places remain in our U18 team.
Players wishing to join the Magpies U18 team are invited to register with us by going to:
Standard registration is $305. All Club Merchandise (including Juniors Match Top, Training Top and Club Cap) together with some specialist programs are available to purchase online at the time of registration.
Please note: all registrations for the CMCC Juniors programs are processed online using the MyCricket website. Payment can be made via Visa or MasterCard and a standard service fee of 1.95% (including GST) applies to each individual payment transaction.
Registrations remain open for the Junior Blasters and Master Blasters programs and places are filling quickly. Please refer to that tab under the Juniors section of this website for further information.
Note regarding age groups:
Magpies Junior players should play cricket in their correct age group within the ECA Competition. If a Junior member is playing in an age group that is above their normal age group then their parent(s) or guardian(s) must speak to the Juniors Coordinator first and, if approved, complete an Out of Age Group Consent Form.
Parents of children in Grade 6 who will move into Year 7 in 2020 and:
• will be under 12 years of age at September 1st 2019, and
• will have a compulsory Saturday sport commitment in 2020
are advised that the Juniors Committee has decided that these players must play at the U14 level in the current season. This is to ensure that we can field full teams in the second half of the season. Parents of children who fall into this category will also need to complete an Out of Age Group Consent Form. Please contact the Juniors Administration Manager, Priscilla Duncan at [email protected] for more information.
